Single Sisters Speak Out

The Modern Life of the Single Sister

It Kills Me Too February 10, 2010

Recently a male friend of mine messaged me asking about Melanie Fiona’s “It Kills Me”. He stated that the song didn’t make any sense to him because he couldn’t understand why a woman who want a man who cheats on her with the lady from down the street (check out “Somebody Come Get Me”)

I told him that while I could totally understand the sentiment it wasn’t so cut & dry. Women are more emotional than men (like you didn’t already know that) and if our hearts are with you then they just are & we’re loyal but I wanna play devil’s advocate.

The scenario is what is Ms. Fiona did indeed get to have his baby… And he was still running around? Does she stick it through or finally leave? How much does she subject herself & her child to? And I’d like to know if anyone thinks this is a constant perpetuating cycle?

Sometimes there is so much more tied to that relationship. For example, you may be against divorce, or he may be a very good father or a very good supporter/supplier. I think people’s reasons for staying will vary from person to person and there will be many reasons for and against

@peyso but… In this instance you’re not married… He’s cheating & you wanna have his baby?

    Uhhh what?

  3. Peyso Says:

Maybe she NEEDs him. I dont know it could happen

I can do bad all by myself (even before Tyler Perry said I could) but I suppose you’re right…

It’s not unheard of that women have a baby to GET a man to stay. Yeah, we know that more likely than not it’s going to be a fail…but that doesn’t mean it won’t be something she would try…

Question is how smart is this? Yes we men know yall are more emotional conversely men are more aggressive but I am not getting anywhere in life being a bull in the china shop-there are times as ppl we must come out of our box and look at it from a objective perspective esp when a baby is born…I just ran into a old flame-baby in toe 3 yr old and had a married mans baby, quite honestly it just comes off-once the baby IS born as a dumb move…and yes dude is still with his wife

  7. Sometimes I wanna.... Says:

As a highly emotional creature, I think we as women play ourselves too many times with that I’ll have his baby move. We always get burned and want to call the man a bad person for not staying. The burden of raising that child solo is the consequence for such childish thinking (yes that was harsh but it is annoying that everyone of us think it will work for us this time around).
